About The Artist

Hal Logan After careers in Law and Architecture, I took up painting seriously some ten years ago. I had always been interested in art and was part owner of an art gallery for a number of years, and often assisted in this endeavour. On retirement, I finally found time to take up painting full time. I currently paint in oils, water colours and acrylics.

I resided in Niagara Falls for much of my life and practiced law there. In 1973, I moved to Vancouver to study architecture, and ended up staying on the west coast of Canada. I now reside in White Rock, just north of the U.S. border. Currently we spend much of the year in Canada, but spend our winters in Mexico.

I have had the good fortune to take workshops and lessons from many fine artists, a number of whom have been featured in national art publications. The artists I have studied with include Geoff Watkinson, Evelyne Boren, Richard Baker, Joe Mayer, Neil Patterson, Lorraine Russell, and Don Getz.

Many of my paintings are on display at Neighbourhood Art Studio in White Rock, British Columbia and at Galleria Vallarta in Puerto Vallarta Mexico. A number of my paintings are also in private collections in Canada, The United States and Mexico.

Some artists attempt to give a deep philosophical meaning to their painting. For me, I just loved painting and creating works of art that are beautiful to me. For the most part, I have enjoyed painting landscapes, street scenes, and florals. I attempt to make my paintings recognizable with some degree of abstraction. I agree with Einstein that painting comes as close to a transcendental experience as most of us humans will have.
